The 2013 Meerea Park Shiraz has won our 2017 Wine of the Year.  Supplied by Campbell and Sally this little ripper hit all of our criteria providing brilliant value for money and a great drop.

You can pick up the current vintage from Meerea Park for about $20 which is excellent value. It also won our Red Wine of the Year.

The 2016 Wine of the Year Awards was also the 25th Anniversary of the Throsby Creek Oenological Phalanx. Awesomely hosted by Lee-Anne and Michael, it was a big one - very much a silver anniversary celebration.

The details of such a big night are quite murky but the big awards were as follows:

FRIDAY

As always many unusual and challenging events happen as we prepare to depart on our bi-annual wine tour. The earth tilts on its axis, fish jump out of the ocean, and that sock missing from the odd sock draw four years ago is found. This year we have the most snow fall in the Blue Mountains in twenty years.

The 2015 Throsby Creek Oenological Phalanx Wine of the Year Awards were held at the beautiful Old Vic Inn in Canowindra, in central NSW. The awards celebrate the best wines tasted from July 2014 to June 2015.

Through-out the year there were many great wines consumed - from the very expensive to absolute bargins.  Interesting

The Throsby Creek Oenological Phalanx headed to the beautiful Barossa for their Biannual Away Trip form the Wine of the Year Awards. We had a ball and stayed at Barossa Cottages which was very nice and excellent food.

Highlights of the trip was tasting in Tscharke's underground cellar with Damien Tscharke. It was educational, entertaining

The Throsby Creek Oenological Phalanx have released a mobile application into the Apple AppStore.

The application which is designed for mobile iOS devices has the latest tasting notes for all wines that we have consumed since 1991. There are also entries on the lates wines tasted as well as any blog entries.
